Overview

At CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy our focus is patient-centered care. Our full range of medical services includes trauma services heart and vascular care emergency services surgery maternity cancer care and diagnostic imaging.


Responsibilities

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  1. Performs routine, urgent, and STAT electrocardiogram (EKG) procedures on acute and ambulatory patient populations.
  2. Applies and removes ambulatory rhythm monitors.
  3. Edits and processes reports in the EKG PACS system.
  4. Performs daily maintenance and quality control.
  5. Cleans and stocks rooms and carts.
  6. Performs preventive maintenance on equipment. Staff member will contact clinical engineering, supervisor, or director if equipment is malfunctioning or requires repair.
  7. Participates in all safety, security and infection control programs that are mandatory as well as those required by the department or facility.
  8. Demonstrates work practices consistent with CHI Health values and department specific safety, security and infection control policies.
  9. Authorized to make entries in the medical record that are within the scope of the position.
  10. Abides by applicable laws and regulations relative to safety, security, and patient privacy (HIPAA).
  11. Must have ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse and multi-cultural environment.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (CPR) from the American Heart Association

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  • Proper patient preparation and lead placement for ECG’s, holter monitors, and event recorders.
  • Proper use of each type of equipment for the above procedures and the ECG reporting system.
  • Basic cardiac rhythms and arrhythmias.
  • Ability to transport equipment to various areas in the hospital and assist patients on and off exam table.
