Saint Joseph Hospital is a 433-bed facility located in Lexington Kentucky. Founded in 1877 a small group of Sisters of Charity of Nazareth in Kentucky led by Sister Euphrasia Stafford began their health ministry. Their mission was to provide compassionate care to the poor and underserved – a tradition still carried out today. Saint Joseph Hospital primarily serves central and eastern Kentucky with a full range of services including distinguished awards for cardiology orthopedics and stroke care. Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE


The Informaticist position uses informatics knowledge and expertise, clinical and operation experience, critical thinking,
research background, and leadership skills to facilitate a multidisciplinary approach to promote quality care. The position
engages with diverse teams (i.e. Operations, Information Technology, Epic, AMS, etc) at multiple levels of the
organization. The position works with stakeholders in the areas of evaluation, planning, development, and
implementation of new features, functionality, tools, and workflow. The position supports the end user by providing
onsite and virtual training for new hires and existing staff.


ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


1. Analyzes and plans implementations of new Epic functionality as assigned including the following
responsibilities:
a. Review of the functionality to determine scope and resources required
b. Develop implementation timeline
c. Facilitate market assessment to inform build and workflow development
d. Coordinate testing process and schedule
e. Identify and coordinate communication needs
2. Provides oversight and management of all assigned projects from initial kick-off through conclusion of
implementation.
a. Collaborates with project stakeholders to identify implementation objectives and guiding principles.
b. Facilitates the scoping of the project to clearly articulate the needs of the request.
c. Responsible for developing, communicating, and managing implementation timeline and
milestones.
d. Engages the appropriate project team members and coordinates assigned work.
e. Provides routine and appropriate communication at project status, accomplishments, upcoming
activities, and risks.
f. Proactively Identifies and escalates issues as appropriate. Develops mitigation plans when
necessary.

g. Evaluates that the project met the goals and objectives scoped and return on effort.
3. Provides online virtual or instructor led classes for new hires as well as new or enhanced software
functionality to impacted staff. Follows educational materials for training sessions and provides input on
changes.
4. Perform technical review of new optimization requests and upgrade functionality to assess for workflow
impact. Make recommendations on proposed optimizations.
5. Collaborate with Epic AMS or Epic National team on researching and resolving identified break-fix items.
6. Engaged in an annual project focused on adding enhanced functionality and/or creating end user efficiency
that generates a positive return on investment for the organization.
7. Remains proficient in the use of Catholic Health Initiatives specific applications that are supported by the
Clinical Informatics Department.
8. Participates in assigned committees or workgroups to serve as resource for Informatics.
9. Other duties as assigned by management.
10. Rounds in clinical areas as assigned. Responsible for appropriate utilization of technology in clinical areas


Qualifications

Required Education for Staff Job Levels:

Four-year clinical degree e.g. Registered Nurse, Pharmacist,
Respiratory Therapy, PT/OT, Radiology, etc.

Required Licensure and Certifications:

Must have valid license in clinical area of education.
Epic Proficient or Credentialed in primary module within one year of
hire.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Minimum of two years experience in a clinical setting using
computerized EMR required.
Ability to adapt to new or changing environments
Strong critical thinking skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with projects including planning, facilitating, and
implementation

PREFERRED Qualifications:

Epic Proficient or Credentialed in one or more modules
Experience working with an EMR
Informatics training
Masters Degree or Certification in Computer Science, MIS, Nursing,
Informatics, HIT, Health Administration, or other related field.
Project Management Professional Certification
