Responsibilities

Job Summary / Purpose

Occupational Therapists provide evaluations, care planning, direct treatment and work as a collaborative member of the interdisciplinary team in both inpatient and outpatient settings.  Care planning, patient/family education, positive and professional physician and payer communication is expected in this role.  This role includes performance of individualized evaluations with interventions designed to improve the patient’s ability to perform activities of daily living.  This role requires a strong knowledge and application of applicable laws, licensure, regulations and professional standards is expected.  

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  • Provides occupational therapy assessment, care planning, patient treatment and education according to the professional practice guidelines defined by state and professional sources.
  • Works as a collaborative team member to develop a coordinated care plan that is accountable to achievement of established goals.
  • Is knowledgable and completes all required documentation and billing requirements according to established local, state and federal law.
  • Is responsible for the knowledge and application of measurable quality metrics associated with the area of active practice.  Periodically attends team meetings to discuss/improve program evaluation/quality measures.
  • Provides supervision to occupational therapy assistants and techs according to established local, state and federal guidelines.
  • Takes responsibility to stay current with evidenced based practice guidelines, stays current with new research introduced and serves as a professional resource to other team members in the area of occupational therapy practice.
  • In support of the academic health mission of the organization, periodically accepts assignment of student clinical education at all levels of clinical training.  
  • Completes all mandatory education requirements around patient safety, quality security, infection control assigned by established timeframes and consistently demonstrates competency in daily practice.
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

Required Education for Staff Job Levels

Any combination of BS, Masters, Doctorate

Required Licensure and Certifications

Active Occupational Therapy license in the state of Kentucky or occupational  licensure compact.  Basic life support is required upon hire.  

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

High level of proficiency in both verbal and written communication.  High level of proficiency required for critical thinking skills and to serve patients and professional team as an expert the field of Occupational Therapy.  Conducts self in a professional manner at all times.

PREFERRED Qualifications

Experience in the field of Occupational Therapy working in a hospital environment
